Beer Branding & Package Design
I created a logo, branding and labels for a small independent brewery. I had to design their labels for their bottles and the 4-pack carrier unit. I started with nothing and first had to create the brand and then design the packaging to fit. I came up with the name BoneYard Brewing Company and created a logo and visual identity for the brand. Once I had the direction chosen for the overall brand, I had to apply this to the package design. I designed a 4 pack carrier and 4 different types of beer they could sell. I created a different label for each one, but kept them all related and on brand.
This process took many revisions and tweaks, and I had to think about things such as hierarchy, legibility, contrast, spacing, and more. I made sure that my designs were practical so that this could actually be printed and use by the brand. I had to include the surgeon generals warning and other components that are required to be on the packaging. I had to also think of how to keep the printing costs relatively inexpensive, if this were to actually be produced.
I created this brand and packaging by using the human centered design process. This means that it is practical and meets the needs and expectations of the consumers in their target market. I did a good deal of research on beer branding so my design could fit the segment they wanted to be in while still standing out from competitors.
